Description

The Division of Education at Columbia College prepares students to become teachers who are collaborative professionals, knowledgeable in the content and practice of their respective disciplines. The Division of Education offers programs leading to certification in early childhood education, Elementary Education, special education, and middle-level education. The Division of Education also works in collaboration with other academic programs on campus to offer majors leading to certification in Dance and English Education. Other programs within the Division of Education include an undergraduate program in speech-language pathology, and graduate programs in Education Administration and Leadership, Trauma- Informed Education, Innovation and Divergent Learning, and Higher Education Administration.

 

The Division of Education at Columbia College invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor in Education serving as the Program Chair of Elementary Education beginning August 1, 2024. Columbia College is a liberal arts college that is committed to creating a learning community that values diversity and inclusion. We seek candidates who will be innovative in teaching, leadership, and research while building collaborative relationships in the college and profession.

Qualifications

 

Applicants should possess an earned Ph. D. or Ed. D in an Education related field from a regionally accredited institution, a certification in Elementary Education, a minimum of five years of teaching experience in 2-6 grade. Interested candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence, a potential to sustain a program of productive scholarship, and a desire to work in a liberal arts environment with an emphasis on leadership development. Candidates with a record of successful leadership will be prioritized. Further, candidates should demonstrate an alignment to the CC mission and a commitment to and capacity for contributing to the development and leadership of programs, grant writing, and student experience.

 

Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities include administrative program area planning and assessment; teaching undergraduate courses; supervising teacher candidates in field experience settings; contributing service at the division, college, and state level; and producing scholarship relevant to the position.
