Overview
Family Promise of Essex County (FPE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families overcome or avoid the crisis of homelessness. FPE seeks a skilled community engagement and Volunteer management professional to fill the role of Program and Volunteer Manager.

The Program and Volunteer Manager (PVM) is responsible for engaging the community in FPE’s work and specifically the Circles® model of poverty reductionand oversees the Circles Essex chapter, its staff, and all its volunteers. The Circles® campaign is a national, transformational approach to reduce poverty that partners volunteers and community leaders with individuals and families wanting to make the journey out of poverty.
The PVM has experience working with diverse socio-economic communities, a deep knowledge of poverty, skills in community organizing and Volunteer management, and an awareness of the social service resources in the community. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Executive Director.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Community Outreach
· Ability to write and speak passionately about what’s needed to reduce homelessness and poverty in the local community.
· Represent FPE at community events and speak publicly to community groups, schools, and other organizations about the work of FPE as needed.
· Maintain communication and coordinate volunteer opportunities and drives for in-kind donations, holiday, and other recognition events with FPE’s network of faith-based partners and other community groups.
· Recognize and acknowledge community partners and Volunteer contributions to FPE.
Circles Coordination
· Promote a supportive, inclusive, positive culture within the Circles community.
· Run the weekly Circles meetings in person on Thursday evenings.
· Recruit and train Resource Team chairs and Allies (volunteers) and support them in establishing and maintaining their teams.
· Regularly attend and provide leadership in Resource Team and community meetings.
· Responsible for recruitment, screening and enrollment of Circle Leaders and Allies.
· Be the Circles Essex liaison with Circles USA. Stay in touch with Circles USA for support and best practices.
· Ensure confidentiality in all communications—both written and oral—are maintained.
· Ensure there is a communal meal for the weekly Circles meeting, primarily using volunteers and donated food. Recruit a volunteer meal coordinator to serve on the Community Team.
· Maintain adequate supplies and keep track of expenses. Submit financial transaction forms for pre-approval of expenses and maintain related receipts and backup documentation.
· Schedule facilitators for Children & Youth team, ensuring that Children & Youth team has curriculum and understands how to use curriculum.
· Communicate weekly with team members and facilitators so they are prepared for their assigned weeks.
· Assist with fund development and report the outcomes from Circles USA data system to the Development Manager/Executive Director.
· Work with the Program Director and Executive Director to plan for growth and development of the program.
· Support the Circles Coach in his or her role of providing support to Circles Leaders and Allies in the matched circles.
· Ensure that case management notes/actions plans are completed and saved digitally on a weekly basis.
· Responsible for overseeing data collection and input of data into Circles USA data system.
· Work occasional flexible hours (nights/weekends) as needed to meet with families, volunteers, or staff. The COM will need to work at least one evening per week to attend Circles meetings.
· All other duties as assigned by FPE to ensure success of Circles.

Education, Experience and Skills
The successful candidate is enthusiastic and can display good judgment, take initiative, communicate clearly and professionally, demonstrate respect and collaboration, and work independently as well as with a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree with two years’ experience in related field desired.
  • Proven ability to recruit, train and work with volunteers.
  • Proven oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm amidst stress or conflict and to mediate disagreements.
  • Solid organizational skills to manage complex tasks with autonomy.
  • Proficiency in computer functions including Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.), apps and social media.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the Circles community.
  • Current Valid Driver’s License.
Salary: $60,000
