Job Responsibilities
The Soldier and Family Readiness Specialist (SFRS) works under guidance of the State Family Programs Director (SFPD) and the Lead SFRS to provide information, referral and follow-up services on essential services to include but not limited to: Identification Card (ID) and Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS), TRICARE, Finance, Legal, Crisis Intervention, Emergency Family Assistance Center (EFAC) Operations, Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP), and Community Information and Outreach services throughout the entire military life cycle. Services involve interaction with customers through face-to-face meetings, email, social media, phone, and text messaging. Customers include but are not limited to Military Service Members, Military Family Members, Veterans and Retirees. Provides services to and assists customers from any branch or component of service. Serves in various functions that require professionalism, and knowledge of navigating complex service systems. Identifies eligibility of benefits based on each Service Member's service history. Responsible for the training, administrative and logistical support to the unit Command leadership team, the SFRG, and the units' overall Family Readiness program, as provided for by policy and guidance from the SFPD. Responsible for overseeing the SFRG programs in conjunction with SFRG volunteers, Commanders and other SFRS team members. Responsible for reporting metrics to the Lead SFRS on at least a monthly basis for reporting to SFPD. Ensures the proper security and safety of all government property, including documents that are provided for or created by Family Programs.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A High School Diploma and relevant Military Family Readiness experience.
Additional Comments
Demonstrated experience working with or for a Military organization (i.e.: Service Member, Family Member, Veteran, Volunteer, Retiree, Civilian Employee, and Government Contractor). A strong understanding of the National Guard and their deployment support cycle requirements. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Outlook Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and have the ability to gather information and create and maintain PowerPoint briefings. Applicant must be capable for analyzing and making recommendations for program improvement, and has the ability to provide communication (orally and written) to disseminate information throughout the organization. Possess the ability to make oral presentations to various size groups. Must be a self-starter, require minimum oversight, demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills; and possess a current and valid driver's license. Applicant must be able to obtain a good National Agency Check (NAC). Selected applicant will be required to meet criteria needed to obtain and maintain a State and Federal/Army National Guard network account. Position requires frequent travel.
