Responsibilities
  • Maintaining a specialized research program that attracts significant extramural grant support.
  • Writing papers for professional journals, and serving on various committees that support the curricular, research and other functions of the home department, the College of Medicine, and the university.
  • Teaching medical, physician assistants, and/or biomedical graduate students.
  • Opportunity to serve as a Multiple Principal Investigator for the Clinical and Translational Science Awards. The award is in its third funding period and a renewal application has been reviewed.   • Opportunities for outpatient clinical practice and human subjects research are available.

This is a tenure track/tenure earning position.

Qualifications

Terminal degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in a relevant field from an accredited institution and a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven track record of excellence in creative approaches to cutting-edge interdisciplinary/collaborative research.
  • Proven track record of successful leadership in clinical and translational research.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration and partnerships.
  • Demonstrated success in building and sustaining interdisciplinary research teams.
  • Excellent mentoring and teaching skills, which are highly valued as critical contributors to our mission of training the next generation of healthcare professionals and scientists.
  • At least 10 years of independent, extramurally-funded research in clinical and translational research.
Other Information

The Florida State University, College of Medicine is seeking a tenured clinical investigator at the full Professor rank. The exact discipline of research and the home department within the College of Medicine is open, but it should be noted that current areas of great strength include neurosciences, cardiovascular, infectious diseases, and behavioral sciences. The successful candidate’s research activities, as well as any clinical care activities, will contribute not only to the College of Medicine and the University of Florida–Florida State University Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) missions, but also to the University’s flagship Florida State University Health. This is a new initiative that unites the entire Florida State University campus, in conjunction with the Clinical and Translational Science Award, in our commitment to improve the health and well-being of the underserved populations of the Florida Panhandle.
