POSITION DESCRIPTION
Provides training and development to new and existing employees through coaching, mentoring and hands-on-tools training to enable learning in Wabash National's safety requirements, tools training and coaching and training on the production floor. The Trainer will be responsible for hands-on-training on day 2, as well as on the production floor with responsibility for ensuring on-the-job training is occurring, employees are being trained properly and employees have everything they need as they start their employment or transfer to a new position.
This role will report to Human Resources.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure quality training is being delivered to new and existing production associates through classroom facilitation, hands-on-tools training, on-the-job training on the production floor and check-ins with new/transfer employees as they
- Assist in coaching supervisors, coordinators, and others involved in employee development
- Oversee compliance of training requirements and plans; conducts follow up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results; prepares and distributes evaluation surveys; creates and disseminates reports
- Oversee training schedule and implement new training procedures as needed
- Help new employee successfully integrate into our workforce
- Help existing workforce integrate with new employees
- Maintain and setup all training areas, including restocking of training materials as necessary
- Provides feedback in areas of improvement; serves in a train-the-trainer role if needed; leads and audits the assessments of employee progress to evaluate the effectiveness of training
- Evaluates the quality and impact to employees and makes changes as needed to builds and strengthens individual and organizational capacity required to support the organizational needs
- Creates, revises and audits site-specific content within e-learning and other platforms; Acts as site administrator; serves as liaison with information technology and learning development team for system set up, and troubleshooting (future)
- Ensures skills matrix is updated and accurately reflects what each employee is trained in, including capturing that each employee cannot run certain machinery until they have been trained (future)
- Advances and supports organizational development initiatives if time permits
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including all scheduled production hours and OT
- Trainer must maintain good attendance at all times
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, including demonstration of training others
- Demonstrated ability to lead people by example
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including an enthusiastic and energetic approach in motivating employees
- Attention to detail
- Problem analysis and resolution
- Strong team player
- Ability to meet and deal tactfully and courteously with fellow employees and vendors/contractors
- Ability to understand complex written and oral instructions
- Thorough knowledge of the occupation hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties
- Must have physical ability to perform floor and yard production positions
