Purpose and Scope
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor is the frontline leader responsible for the supervision of the day-to-day operations and activities for the St. Clair plant specific to the shift assigned to achieve safety, environmental, quality and production objectives of the plant.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct associates, both full-time and temporary, so that products are manufactured on schedule, within quality standards, and meeting cost goals as directed by customer-focused feedback.
- Direct and assign duties for assigned shift in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, safety and environmental regulations, and quality system requirements.
- Demonstrate a true 'shop floor presence'. Work closely with associates, engineers, quality department, and maintenance to drive continuous improvement activities, operator-led preventative maintenance (PMs), 5S, and housekeeping initiatives.
- Allocate resources (internal and external) to meet production and quality requirements.
- Coordinate new hire training and cross-training activities for all associates on shift.
- Ensure data integrity of all shift reporting, including production and scrap logs, machine downtime (OEE), and PMs.
- Execute quality (ISO 16949) and environmental (ISO 14001) programs, including managing updates to work instructions, training modules, and enforcement of procedures.
- In partnership with HR, address HR-related topics such as interviewing, performance, attendance, and conduct regarding improvement and disciplinary action.
- Direct production and shipping schedules on assigned shift to meet customer requirements.
- Purchase operational supplies within defined budgets to achieve performance and improvement efforts.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
Technical/Functional Skills
- Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing principles and processes.
- Experience leading employees
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Computers skills: spreadsheets, email, word processing
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent with 8 years of experience in operations.
- Associate of technical or business with 4 years of experience in operations.
- Bachelor of technical or business with 1 year of experience in operations.
Preferred Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent with 12 years of experience in operations.
- Associate of technical or business with 7 years of experience in operations.
- Bachelor of technical or business with 3 years of experience in operations.
