Job description

You will serve as a Production Shop Planner (Sheet Metal Mechanic) in the Structural Shop (Code 920), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 9010, Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.Qualifications: Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO PROVIDE PRODUCTION SUPPORT SERVICES

  • Coordinating the required system tagouts with the work control and release function, packaging and assembly of work documentation, and materials to meet schedules, efficient application of work areas and trade skills, material delivery deadlines, and tracking material being work in the inside shops.
  • Compiling work packages that consist of Task Group Instructions (TGI's), drawings, technical requirements and shop processes/procedures that are derived from pertinent standards, instructions, and drawings.
  • Preparingmaterial requests forms, indicating status including delivery dates and location of material, contacting suppliers to locate material and secure prices.
