Position Summary:
The Production Operator II position is a 12-hour shift on a 7/7 rotating schedule, covering day and night shifts. This position is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of oil and gas processing equipment and training of new employees.
Essential Duties:
- Adhere and ensure compliance with Company Environment, Safety & Regulatory requirements, including but not limited to Near Miss Reporting, JSA reviews, Stop Work Authority, LOTO, and other critical task procedures.
- Train, coach, mentor and evaluate new employees and communicate with Production Supervisor on employee performance.
- Participate in Safety Meetings and ensure security of the facility, site, and wells
- Control and order inventory when needed.
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, replace/repair, and monitor oil and gas production and processing equipment and industry components, including but not limited to SCADA systems, separators, artificial lift systems, flow lines, engines, compressors, tanks, ECDs, tank gauging, valving PRV’s, heater treaters, line heaters, chillers, and seal records etc.
- Prepare tanks for product sale and coordinate with dispatch for timely product sales.
- Conduct daily inspections and checks of wells and facilities, gather data, perform maintenance, and ensure site cleanliness and compliance with NN, NNEPA, NMOCD and Company requirements.
- Read and interpret flow gas meters and tank gauges and convert measurements for accurate and efficient documentation of lease operations.
- Safely operate company vehicles, following all driving laws and company policies.
- Report production data daily to provide timely production data to all users.
- Participate in well reviews.
- Engage and communicate positively with landowners/residents.
- Be comfortable with high pressure systems up to 3,500 psi.
- Work in all weather conditions including rain, snow, mud, etc. – work is performed in hazardous driving and working conditions all seasons of the year.
- Review service provider JSAs and work activities daily.
- Coordinate with drilling operations to ensure safe simultaneous operations in the field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Necessary Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED. Preference will be given to applicants with a technical diploma in instrumentation, oil and gas operations, electronics, mechanical, welding or pipe fitting.
- A minimum of two years’ experience as a Lease Operator / Pumper.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and understanding of oil and gas production, exploration operations, and upstream oil and gas operations and including but not limited to SCADA, systems, separators, artificial lift systems, flow lines, heater treaters, seal records, engines, compressors, tanks, ECDs, etc.
- Valid Driver's License Required and insurable driving record. Preference will be given to applicants with a CDL.
- Demonstrated experience and/or documented training with computer systems as in Microsoft Excel data entry, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Demonstrated experience and/or documented training with computerized maintenance systems and other computer systems including pumping unit controllers and others as needed.
- Must be able to train new employees and evaluate individual and department performance goals.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts with varying schedules and hours and work in inclement weather conditions.
- Must be able to climb, work at heights and in confined.
- Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills.
- Has the ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
- Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk or hear. The employee is required to continuously kneel or crouch; frequently climb ladders and crawl; and occasionally climb stairs and squat. The employee must frequently lift, carry and/or move up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift, carry and/or move up to 61 pounds, right carry up to 22 pounds; and rarely lift, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds rarely while lying on the back. The employee is required to occasionally push up to 80 pounds of force and pull up to 55 pounds of force horizontally; rarely push up to 100 pounds of force horizontally and up to 55 pounds of force vertically; rarely rotate with 20 pounds of force or swing up to 12 pounds. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; occasionally with a static hand grip of 33 pounds of force; and rarely at an elevated level. Occasionally the employee is required to sit with frequent forward bending and rotation. The employee is frequently required to walk, shovel; and to stand with forward bending. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Working Environment: Works in site environments on rotating shifts with variable hours and professional office as needed. Working outdoors in all weather conditions; working in plant environment; working in shop environment; and working in the cab of equipment or vehicle.
