Position Overview
The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring order deadlines and daily efficiency goals are met and requires high inter-departmental communication and collaboration. This person must be able to multitask, provide quick responses/solutions to unforeseen production problems, and always exhibit a professional, respectful demeanor.
Job Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the Production Manager include, but are not limited to:
- Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment(s); Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Creates, reviews, and follows daily employee work schedule; addresses any concerns with the Plant Manager
- Monitors and oversees employees on assigned production line(s) ensuring Production Sheet Instructions are followed, employees are offered/taking timely uninterrupted meal and rest breaks, and production is completed in a safe and timely manner
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems
- Responsible for Daily & Weekly reports on yields
- Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to minimize costs and prevent operational delays
- Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines
- Interprets specifications, formulas, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces GMP and safety regulations
- Ensures Production Supervisors fill out paperwork timely and correctly throughout the shift
- Maintains and proactively updates production standards summary to increase efficiency
- Encourages and counsels employees to maintain a high level of professionalism and to address issues with management and HR if necessary
- Proactively identifies problems and potential problems, and offers potential solutions
- Informs Plant Manager of whereabouts, attendance, and activities
- Maintains a working knowledge of and adheres to company policies and procedures
- Collaborates with other departments such as Purchasing, Warehouse, QA, HR, and R&D regarding material, equipment, quality concerns, labor status, personnel issues, etc.
- Supports Plant Manager and Operations Manager as needed
- Assists other employees as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
Qualifications
- Two to Five years Management experience in a Food Processing environment
- Two to Five years’ experience with Meat Processing
- Ability to read, speak and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos;
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide by 10’s and 100’s; To perform these operations using units of American money; To create statistical formulas in Excel
- Ability to create and carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions; Solid analytical skills are required; Must be self-motivated and pro-active; Must be able to work well with others
- Knowledge of and intermediate ability to use various computer-based programs including E-mail, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Food Science or related field of study
- USDA Trained
- Advanced knowledge of GMP’s; HACCP Certified
- One to Three years’ experience with Scan Guns and/or TI stations
- Bilingual in Spanish/English

Salary: $67,100.00 - $85,000.00 per year
