Job Summary:

Pratt and Whitney’s Advance Casting organization is in need of a 1st shift Production and Facility Manager at it’s East Hartford, CT facility in the Rapid Prototype Casting Lab (RPCL) foundry. This position has overall responsibility for the foundry operations team consisting of 15-20 employees. This individual will lead a team of people in a fast paced and dynamic environment to meet customer delivery, quality, and cost requirements by planning, organizing, and directing the flow of work. This individual will also be responsible for a safe work environment, lead safety improvement projects, preventive maintenance planning and execution, and rapid response to unplanned machine downtime or facilities issues.

This role requires daily interaction with the engineering and maintenance teams to have clear focus on accountability for daily results. Achieve /exceed cost, quality, delivery, safety goals and identify opportunities for implementing continuous improvement using lean methodologies.

Responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Execution of production schedules, control quality, and meet cost target.
  • Effective communication of shop activities.
  • Workforce planning and forecasting.
  • Employee hiring, coaching, training, and development.
  • Time and Attendance duties.
  • Work cell layout and part flow management.
  • Capital identification and control of overhead expenses.
  • Ensure full compliance of company policies and procedures.
  • PM and break down completions for all equipment.
  • Use of data driven RRCA for machine uptime/OEE improvements.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent experience and minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced degree with 3 years of related experience.
  • Production, operations or manufacturing experience in a leadership/supervisory role
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supervising bargaining unit employees.
  • Experience working in a foundry.
  • Experience assigning, managing, and measuring work assignments to completion.
  • Experience utilizing lean manufacturing tools with a proven track record.
  • Mech/Mfg/Industrial Engineering experience in the aerospace/defense industry preferred
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Access) and/or SAP.
