SymPro Software

Permanent | Full time | Remote


SymPro Software is seeking a Product Manager to assist with full cycle ownership of our Investment and Debt Management Systems for public sector entities. The Product Manager will be responsible for championing and driving the product life cycle of the SymPro product lines to ensure continuous market success. While not having a development background, the Product Manager should possess strong communication skills, strategic thinking abilities, a deep understanding of customer needs, and a knack for collaboration to effectively guide the development team in delivering successful products tailored to the niche market.


The Product Manager works closely with internal and external stakeholders to establish the product roadmap and define product requirements.

General Duties and Responsibilities for the role:

  • Act as champion for product success, from product requirements specifications through general delivery of solutions. Facilitate the resolution of issues and removal of impediments to the product’s success in the market.
  • Defines and refines the product vision and strategy in alignment with market needs and company goals. This involves conducting market research and collaboration with other company staff, customers, and prospects to understand opportunities for product enhancement and innovation.
  • Performs technology assessments, competitive assessments, and monitors industry standards /innovations.
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams such as development, sales and implementation teams to ensure a shared understanding of product requirements, timelines and goals. Facilitate communication between these teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Clearly define product requirements through user stories, specifications, and product requirement document (PRD). Collaborate with the development team to ensure a thorough understanding of these requirements for successful implementation.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive product roadmap, outlining the features, functionalities, and enhancements that align with the company's short-term and long-term objectives. This involves prioritizing features based on customer needs, market demands, and business value.
  • Oversee the product launch process, coordinating with various teams to ensure a successful rollout. Continuously gather feedback from customers and stakeholders to iterate and improve the product. Monitor product performance and key metrics to identify areas for enhancement.
  • Lead and inspire the development team by providing clear direction, setting expectations, and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead and participate in product testing and design.
  • Develops plans for product migration/upgrades, globalization/localization.
  • Act as a resource, educator, and coach to other company staff members in terms of product functionality, capabilities, and value to industry.
  • Generates and maintains product documentation, including product user guides.

Provides product field support through the following:

  • New product releases roll-out training and education for technical personnel.
  • Write technical white papers and presentations.
  • Conduct or assist with product demonstrations.

  • Provide technical product support for client visits.
  • Support sales team in marketing the solutions.

Our Ideal Candidate will possess the following expertise, education, and characteristics:

  • BA/BS from an accredited college or university or commensurate level of experience preferably in finance or accounting.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner with proven success delivering multiple B2B products.
  • Strong analysis, documentation, and presentation skills.
  • Success in managing and driving development.
  • Financial or accounting experience a plus.
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of browser-based systems.
  • Lead and participate in the testing of product deliverables.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong business background in product management.
  • Cross-functional project management, new product rollout experience.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of prospects, customers, employees, and members of the public sector financial community.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to generate enthusiasm and act as an agent of change and innovation is a critical characteristic.
