Our 11-week summer internship program will be in person in Atlanta (some remote workdays available) and run from May 20, 2024 - August 2, 2024.
The Product Engineering Group within Procurement is working toward a total transformation for new product introduction, procurement tenders and supplier quality management.
As a Product Engineering Intern, you will help on the tender execution for different application products and new product introduction initiatives through follow up with the suppliers as an integral part in our PPAP process. You will review engineering drawings and documentation, adding it into the appropriate systems to ensure key features are shared across the organization. Along the way, you will create process documentation while analyzing for waste in the process and make recommendations for continuous improvement. To be successful, you'll need to work cross functionally to share information, including, but not limited to technical data and process artifacts across the organization to aid in the overall business transformation.
You can expect to...

  • Observe and document processes for various activities related to but not limited to new product introduction, procurement initiatives and supplier quality issues
  • Identify goals & key success metrics for each of the processes, gathering input from key stakeholders
  • Map out processes using visualization tools such as PowerPoint or Vizio, recording key attributes for each step in the process
  • Apply Engineering Problem solving techniques to a corporate environment to help standardize intake, export, and expiration of parts.
  • Apply lean principles in office layout to drive high engagement within team and with key stakeholders, including application of 5S and driving kaizen events; evaluate current engineering equipment for fit and develop plan to maximize productivity returns
  • Assist team members in documentation tasks that help serve our customers better, with an eye for process improvement in these tasks; make recommendations to streamline / automate the same
  • Assist team members with meeting process improvement goals, by getting direction on required tasks
  • Shadow team members on typical day-to-day activities to learn key critical activities in Product Engineering and quality function in the organization

What you'll need:
  • A rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's in industrial engineering, engineering management, or mechanical engineering
  • Experience with engineering drawing analysis and CAD design
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Preferred: Exposure to Visio, Smartsheet
