The Product Buyer is responsible for overseeing and maintaining appropriate levels of inventory for production. This position requires research, analysis, and forecasting of current and future buying trends, markets and products. A Product Buyer works as a liaison between production, receiving, sales service and finance to align strategies. Communication with steel suppliers and providing creative solutions to situations that may arise during the order, scheduling or production processes. Occasional travel may be required.
Additional Functions:
- Engages in precise, in-depth communication between departments and vendors.
- Takes ownership in inventory levels in all aspects of production.
- Participates in continuous improvement activities and provides suggestions for cost reduction.
- Maintains and records pricing and delivery information and inventories for current and future vendors.
- Works with finance to ensure vendors are set up accurately and in a timely manner, including but not limited to requesting records and signed purchase agreements.
Ability to work directly with teammates or independently.

- 2-year business degree or 2 years related experience (ex: purchasing, inventory management, production, etc.)
- Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office

- SAP experience
- Experience with materials control or purchasing, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
