POSITION SUMMARY
A Dave’s Fresh Marketplace Produce Clerk is responsible for proper stocking and rotation of merchandise in the Produce Department, including merchandising of products to ensure fresh, high-quality offerings. This position ensures proper inventory control to maximize product freshness and availability, and answers questions from customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior produce experience preferred, but not required
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be comfortable with customer facing interactions
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Ensuring that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment – includes greeting and acknowledging customers, smiling, making eye contact, and all other components of customer service
- Maintaining an awareness of all produce items on sale – I.E., Weekly Ads
- Stocks Produce Department, including presentation of product, rotation, and organization of all produce items as set by Produce Management
- Examines the rotation of all produce items paying particular attention to expired stock and properly discarding outdated or spoiled items pursuant to Dave’s Fresh Marketplace standards
- Assisting in replenishing merchandise; participating in receiving and monitoring floor stock
- Assisting in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and department housekeeping
- Ensures cleanliness of Produce Department, storage areas, and work areas for safety; includes cleaning of shelves, displays, cases, keeping floors free of spills and water, removing hazardous debris from floor
- Completes all cleaning tasks as assigned
- Cutting gloves must be worn on non-cutting hand while cutting any product. This policy is mandatory
- Completes all logs as required
- Conducts and logs hourly floor sweeps of department to ensure customer and employee safety
- Walks department regularly to ensure an organized and overall clean appearance at all times
- Ensure pricing accuracy – I.E., check product price at register to ensure accuracy
- Receives, inspects, and logs products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality
- Unloads received product and maintains backstock
- Ensures proper temperatures in all cooler/freezer cases
- Cleans and sanitizes all work areas – I.E., tables, floors, scales, cases, coolers, etc.
- Sustain a high level of product knowledge and product preparation
- Assists Produce Manager as needed
- Notifies management of pricing discrepancies
- Communicating customer requests to management; responds positively to customer’s inquiries and assists customers with questions, information, and product selection
- Strict adherence to all Food Safety & Sanitation procedures
- Adhering to all Dave’s Fresh Marketplace policies, procedures, and practices including signing,
pricing, and loss prevention
- Follows all safety practices and procedures
- Adherence to department-specific dress code policy
- Performing other duties as assigned

- Proper handling of equipment; such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, and hand trucks
