Produce Assistant Manager

The position also includes ordering and managing inventory.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide excellent customer service and address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner.
Follow proper procedures for customer assistance, produce handling, organic standards, etc
Maintain a safe, clean and well-organized working and shopping environment
Ensure compliance with all rules and regulations, Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and adhere to safe work practices.
Answer department telephone calls and pages quickly and with excellent phone etiquette.
Support Produce Manager in supervising the produce staff
Keep walk-in refrigerators clean and organized
Check in deliveries for quality and quantity, and ensure proper storage of all items
Ensure produce staff completes all responsibilities, including- Filling their section, end of shift clean up, proper rotation, and organizing Avocados, Tomatoes, Oranges, Apples, Mangoes, Bananas, Lemons, Packaged Salads, and the dressings.
Ensure the department is clean at all times, and direct produce employees to clean sections as needed
Any and All Other Duties as Needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team
Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to fellow team members and customers
Ability to follow instructions and procedures
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
Willingness to work in various temperatures, and varying degrees of moisture and slime
Ability to learn about natural and organic foods, terms, and products
Strong work ethic and integrity
Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a sense of urgency
Use of tools and equipment, including box cutters and knives
