Procurement Specialist 3
Location:Columbus, MT - US PGM Operations
Job Responsibilities and Duties:Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; recognizing and mitigating risks, preparing bid RFI and RFP's based on customer requirements, conduct high level spend analysis, manage contract creation, negotiation, execution, and compliance; set goals and savings targets for assigned categories of spend; efficiently manage inventory re-ordering, and processing direct charge orders from Operations personnel, within Total Cost of Ownership Principles and in accordance with SMC approved Purchasing Policies and Procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:Preferred:
- Contract creation, execution, and management.
- Ability to negotiate pricing and payment terms of purchase consistent with consideration of quality, reliability of source, and urgency of need.
- Competitive Analysis; Spend Analysis; Cost Savings and/or Avoidance
- Expedite and ensure the timely delivery and receipt of materials.
- Vendor management.
- Relationship building; able to earn and build trust.
- Work with other departments to recommend new suppliers, issue REQ's and analyze proposals, which put SSM at a competitive advantage.
- Problem solving in a Team environment.
- Continuous Improvement practices
- Mining experience preferred.

- Computer competency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Experience with JD Edwards or other MRP Systems.

- Minimum of 5 years relevant purchasing experience and a high school degree or GED equivalent.
- BS in a relevant discipline OR Associates OR Technical Degree in a relevant disciple preferred.
