The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombuds to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses.
This position is with the Central Services Division (CSD). CSD is responsible for providing accounting, budgeting, collections, procurement, facilities management, information technology, human resources, and research services to the department.
This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

Here's what you will do:
As a Procurement Assistant, you will purchase supplies, products and services using standard purchasing and contacting methods. You will also provide technical administrative support within the procurement unit by assisting higher-level specialists, and gathering and processing information in support of contracts and agreements. You will have the opportunity to work in OregonBuys as a Wave 1 agency.
DCBS CSD's Procurement & Contract Assistant performs administrative duties to support the procurement team. For example, in addition to purchase orders and procurement analysis, the Assistant's duties include, but are not limited to, gathering topics to create procurement agenda items, note taking, working with Communications to post information to the internal website, maintaining e-files, gathering and formatting procurement's key performance measures, and updating policies, procedures, and templates.

Here's what you need to qualify:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two years of clerical-support experience in a related fields such as general business, accounting, contracts, purchasing, or project administration support

OR
  • An associate's degree or higher

A one-year certificate in supply chain, logistics management, procurement, or a related field will substitute for one year of experience.
Requested Skills:
  • Highly proficient with microcomputer applications such as Access, Word and email
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Dedication to quality customer service and sensitivity to customer needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Superior telephone etiquette
  • Good facilitation skills
  • Ability to deal effectively with a variety of contacts inside and outside the agency
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to use sound judgment and decision making skills
  • Ability to plan and organize work efficiently
  • Ability to work well under stress and time pressures
