Job Summary Statement:
This position is responsible for assisting in the coordination of production activities related to Injection Mold performance goals.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve in a lead role by executing all activities within the scope of approved procedures and sets priorities necessary to accomplish pre-determined goals.
- Troubleshoots process and machine issues and repairs/corrects findings
- Implement and maintain SIM (scientific Injection Molding) where appropriate.
- Ensure schedule attainment, cycle times monitoring and OEE daily Tracking.
- Ensure safe working practices are followed and all accidents, hazards, near misses, and property damage are reported in the required time.
- Ensure that production activities are carried out in accordance with approved procedures and all non-conformances’ are dispositional and approved as required prior to further processing.
- Provide for the training of Technicians.
- Operate crane to replace molds.
- Forklift to molds.
- Remain current on forklift training and certification as required by supervisor, manager, and/or Igloo Safety.
- Complete paperwork.
- Responsible for mold change and machine adjustments.
- Start/shut down machines.
- Conduct minor repairs and change inserts.
- Ensure the production is running in an efficient manner, quality the first time
- Primary responsibility for the monitoring and control of assigned process.
- Primary responsibility for the set-up and bring up to specification of assigned processes.
- Primary responsibility from the seeking of solutions for technical problems associated with assigned processes.
- Follow-up of trails on new processes.
- Verification of manufacturing working documents.
- Interface between Methods, Tooling, Maintenance, Warehouse, and QC related to assigned processes.
- Verification of tooling, instructions, and materials prior to use on assigned processes.
- Instruct and supervise technicians assigned to processes under assigned control.
- Promote Safety and Quality and Environmental awareness.
- Ensure that safety and quality requirements are fulfilled.
- Familiarize Technicians and Material Handlers with quality objectives, work criteria and safety hazards. Hold tool box talks in absence of Supervisor.
- Provide positive re-enforcement and feedback to technicians.
- Perform process verification prior to job commencement.
- Obtaining approved disposition for non-conformances prior to process continuation.
- Assess and identify training needs of technicians.
- Ensure all labor and machine timesheets are completed accurately and submitted as required.
- Ensure work area(s) are maintained in a clean and organized manner.
- Participate in LEAN and Continuous Improvement events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of mold changing and five (5) years processing plastics experience; Six (6) months experience operating a sit-down gas powered forklift.
- Scientific/Decoupled molding process development principles or RJG certification desired.
- English Language Skills: Able to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
- Math Skills: Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Physical Demands: Able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs. multiple times a day during a 12 hr. shift; Bend and stand in difficult positions up to 12 hours; Able to manipulate tools with both hands and stand for long hours.
- Work Environment: Warehouse environment hot and humid in summer months, cold in winter months. High noise requiring use of hearing protection.
- Must have own tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual (English/Spanish).
