WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Are you interested in the excitement of a job where you get to be part of the justice system? We have an extremely important role supporting adults and youth as a Probation Officer.
Here is some experience and skills we are looking for: (Willing to train the right candidate)
· High school diploma or equivalent;
· Must possess a valid Idaho Driver’s License;
· Must meet IDAPA and POST Certification or a willingness to obtain;
· Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this job.
The following are preferred qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree with a major in social sciences, psychology, criminal justice, or related field is preferred;
· Previous related work experience;
· Bilingual in English and Spanish.
The Probation Officer role is extremely important to Teton County. Here are just a few of the meaningful assignments you will be part of:
· Performs various preliminary and ongoing case management functions and assists offenders from probation and/or pretrial services in the development and implementation of individualized plans to meet conditions set by the court;
· Conducts criminal record history review and risk/needs assessments to identify problem areas, including chemical dependency, mental illness, domestic violence, and family issues;
· Prepares support documentation for professional recommendations, offers in-court recommendations and makes recommendations to hold defendants in custody or release them based upon current circumstances for probation and/or pretrial service cases;
· May assist with the facilitation of pretrial services tasks for criminal background screening and supervision releases utilizing the pretrial service standard operating procedures;
· Maintains contact and correspondence with the court, community agencies, offenders, physicians, treatment sources, and other applicable interests in order to supervise compliance and progress of cases;
· Performs a variety of fieldwork to determine offender compliance with probation terms and conditions as outlined in department policy;
· Provides customer service the Teton County way!
This position reports to the Chief Probation Officer.
