- Assist with selection, planning, implementation, configuration, and testing of occupational therapy programing
- Conducts tests and evaluates St. Ann’s Residents physical and mental abilities and analyzes medical data to determine realistic rehabilitation goals for patients.
- Continuously evaluates patients' progress and prepares reports that detail progress.
- Selects activities that will help individuals learn activity and life-management skills within limits of their mental or physical capabilities.
- Recommends changes in St. Ann’s Residents living environments, consistent with their needs and capabilities.
- Participates in Care Conferences, Team Meetings and communicates with members of the interdisciplinary team concerning Resident treatment as necessary.
- Provides Resident, family, and staff education and training as needed and documents appropriately.
- Protects St. Ann’s Residents privacy by keeping information secure and confidential.
- Education / Training: Graduate from an accredited OT school.
- Current, unencumbered Occupational Therapy Licensure through the State of Michigan
- 2-5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience working in a long term care setting preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing demands for time and attention.
- Ability to be self-motivated to achieve desired organizational goals.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of associates, residents, and family members.
- Ability to apply reason, logic, and advanced problem-solving skills to resolve complex and/or sensitive issues.
- Excellent written communication skills including proper grammar and professional writing.
- Strong computer skills and keyboarding skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to quickly master new applications.

- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
- Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Frequent exposure to extreme temperatures (Hot and Cold weather).
- Is involved in community/civic health matters/projects as appropriate.
- Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.
- Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, assaults from hostile residents, etc., throughout the work day, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
- Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
- May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals
- Must be able to move constantly throughout the workday.
- Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
