Responsibilities
- Provide care for infusion patients according to plan of care
- Work autonomously in caring for patients and their safety during medication IV infusion.
- Observe, assess, and record patient symptoms, reactions, and progress and communicate this to relevant team and family members
- Administer treatments and perform therapeutic procedures
- Care for peripheral and central lines
- Follow sterile procedure while insertion on IV catheters, and wound care and PICC line care
- Use IV insertion experience and technique, PICC line and Port-A-Cath access and care, and sterile dressing changes with some wound care involvement.
- Some wound care
- Responsible for evaluating, verifying, and preparing medications
- Coordinate patient care activities and maintain communication with other team members including the agency, pharmacist, and physician.
- Educate the patient/family about care needs and disease prevention
- Follow appropriate infection control measures
- Maintain accurate and timely records
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Current unencumbered RN license in the state of Florida
- Strong skills when it comes to organization and prioritization
- Experience with IV insertion, PICC lines, Port-A-Cath care, and dressing changes
- Knowledge of medications, indications, dosage ranges, side effects, and potential toxicities
- Ability to troubleshoot problems that arise in IV therapy
- Exceptional standards of patient communication and care
- Proficient computer skills in Windows, Excel, and other related software including medical charting
- Ability to work accurately and quickly under pressure
- Maintains continuing education in fields of nursing and infusion therapy
- Current CPR certification
- Current Florida driver's license, active insurance, and reliable vehicle
- At least 1 year of recent medical surgical, home health, procedural, or critical care experience
- Flexibility to complete as many or as few patient visits as needed for the business requirements at that time.
