Overview
The primary purpose of the Immunization/IV Infusion Nurse is to administer vaccines and IV antibody therapy treatments during pharmacy-led immunization clinics in a safe and effective manner consistent with all applicable policies, procedures, and legal requirements. This is a PRN position that visits Long Term Care communities to assist with immunizations and COVID vaccinations.
Responsibilities
• Possess knowledgeable understanding of current vaccine information, health care concepts, and all regulations relative to immunization delivery.
• Ensure all necessary vaccines and supplies are available for each vaccination clinic and maintain proper storage of vaccines and supplies.
• Counsel patients and provide appropriate Vaccine Information Statements (VIS) during each clinic.
• Report any adverse events as required to the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) and to the primary care provider named by the patient.
• Travel as required to attend clinics at various locations.
• Any and all duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily is necessary and the qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:IV experience and willingness to administer IV infusions to covid patients.
• Registered Nursing degree (RN) from an accredited college or university is preferred.
• Valid state registered nursing license.
• Ability to maintain organization and prioritize.
• Exhibit initiative, professionalism, and reliability.
• Comply with annual TB testing and blood borne pathogen training.
• Previous vaccination with Hepatitis B series or willingness to receive Hepatitis B series as a condition of employment.
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and enthusiasm to serve senior residents.
