Compensation:
- Top drivers earn up to $80,000 per year

- Safely and efficiently operate a class 8 tractor and trailer combination. Comply with Federal, State, Local, FMCSA, DOT regulations and laws including hours of service. Comply with MEC Fleet internal policies.
- Maintain appropriate and accurate routing from pick up location to delivery location.
- Ensure appropriate in-network fuelings.
- Manually open and close trailer doors (Approx. 25-50 lbs). Secure doors with chain and binder (Approx. 25-50 lbs).
- Manually dolly up and down trailer dolly legs (Approx. 50-75 lbs.).
- Climb up fixed trailer ladder on the front of the trailer nose and use crank bar handle to physically roll or unroll manual trailer tarps (Approx. 75-100 lbs.).
- Manually swing multiple roof bow headers to one side of the trailer by removing a pin from a pin-and-hinge assembly and reinstalling (Approx. 75-100 lbs.).
- Perform manual brake adjustments on slack adjusters requiring squatting or kneeling under the trailer (Approx. 25-50 lbs).
- Perform manual sliding of trailer tandems by pulling trailer slider bar to release the tandem pins (Approx. 75-100 lbs).
- Inspect tractor and trailer during pre-trip and post-trip inspections. This requires squatting, kneeling, bending or crawling underneath the trailer. Any equipment repairs or defects report to Fleet Manager.
- Input load information into the Rand system accurately and timely. Actions include, but not limited to: arrival at shipper, loaded, arrival at consignee, empty, detention pay, trailer repair needed, time off request, etc.
- Utilize the tractor APU for any idling over 10 minutes including during 10 hr break.
- Utilize all hours of service, 11/14 hrs, on a daily basis unless extenuating circumstances (weather, sick, etc.)
- Maintain accurate daily driving logs to comply with DOT hours of service regulations.
- Organize and maintain driver paperwork in individual load envelopes.
- Address and work to resolve issues (log errors, missing load information, etc.) in a timely manner
- Provide excellent customer service to Metal Exchange customers. Communicate to MEC dispatch any customer feedback or concerns.
- Provide appropriate, consistent, and timely communication with internal and external customers including business units, customers, suppliers to ensure accurate processing of shipments
- Excellent communication required. (Ex. notifying dispatch when running behind)
- Consistent attendance required.
- Other physical miscellaneous duties that occur while completing the job.
- Class "A" CDL
- 3 years of verifiable OTR experience
- Good safety record
- Pass DOT physical and drug screen
- Meet all DOT requirements
- Be able to meet the physical job duties
- Good criminal record with no felonies
