Prepress Technician (3rd Shift: $31.25 HR)
This role is eligible for a $2,400 sign-on bonus!
The Prepress Technician is responsible for the overall production of digital data as supplied by customers or created within the Department for the purpose of supporting the digital workflow necessary to create the proofs and plates used in the printing process.
What you'll be doing:
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Preflighting of supplied files.
- Downloading data of supplied media to the server into the appropriate folders for both plate ready and native application files.
- Responsible for all page layout (Adobe InDesign), color retouching (Adobe Photoshop), PDFs (Adobe Acrobat) and page imposition. (Preps)
- Responsible for digital proofing, Epson proofs, Reader Proofs, and all other such proofing devices online.
- Follow job layouts to create plate imposition template files. From these template files, import proper pages for processing.
- Once files are imposed, create a digital or a 4-color imposed plotter for review or review the impositions digitally.
- Review/QC impositions and compare them to the okayed contract proofs to ensure that there are no errors.
- Once properly QC’d send files thru the appropriate workflow (line screen, dot shape, etc…) to platesetter.
- Responsible for rules-ups of out-sheets when called to do so.
- Responsible for operating digital platesetter, including adding new plates, etc.
- Responsible for checking finished plates for errors.
- Responsible for operating plate bender ensuring that quality standards for each press is met.
- Responsible for changing chemistry and cleaning processors as required by supervision.
- Responsible for performing preventative maintenance as required by supervision.
- Follow through on all directions given by the manager.
- Responsible for housekeeping of the Premedia Department.
- Responsible for controlling calibration of all equipment, within the scope of operator usage, on all equipment used in daily production.
- Follows all plant and OSHA procedures including performing duties safely and in accordance with all work and safety rules as well as established work and industry practices.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality on all matters involving the Arandell Corporation.
- Maintains a positive customer relations approach towards visitors, customers, and employees.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Premedia Manager.

- Must be proficient in current Adobe software including Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat.
- Two (2) years of Digital Premedia experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Technical Degree is desirable.
