About the Team: The Supplier Development and Supplier Quality Assurance team at ZF Mesa supports airbag module inflator manufacturing, including multiple inflator technology types, inclusive of new product development and launches. The product line supports ICE, electric, and autonomous vehicles. Zero Defects is our mission! The Principle Supplier Development Engineer candidate is responsible for developing, managing and control of the supply base for assigned direct material. Traits that support success in this role will include strong ability to manage and shift amongst multiple priorities, communicate effectively on a global and multi-cultural basis, and deep dive complex problems.
What you can look forward to as a Principal Supplier Development Engineer:
- Scheduling, controlling and carry out supplier audits (IATF 16949 / VDA 6.3)
- Participation in risk assessments, technical reviews and supplier selection together with the cross-functional teams.
- Improve and control supplier quality according to plant and PSS-NA targets.
- Provide engineering and production support; monitor and develop ways to reduce scrap and increase quality together with suppliers and ZF production line.
- Qualification of delivered parts (PPAP) and Initiate and control/follow up of APQP actions as well as initiate and control/follow up of corrective actions at the suppliers
- SQA/Post-Launch support (8D, FMEA, DOE, MRB, supplier cost recovery, etc.)
- Continued Supplier Development according to Global Supplier Quality Manual and Business Policy Manual
Your Profile as a Principal Supplier Development Engineer:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: 8+ years quality or related experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Excellent commercial/negotiation skills and strong interpersonal, analytical and computer skills required.
- Strong business sense, strategic, motivational, team leadership and communication skills developed by having worked in other functional areas of business.
- Sense of urgency and bias for speed, with a tolerance for ambiguity.
- Strong quality orientation and knowledge of quality processes (PPM, APQP, PPAP) as well as strong financial acumen.
- Willingness to travel
