Job Description

You will play a pivotal role in the growth of CourseCareers by taking a leading role in maximizing value to one or more of our stakeholders (students, instructors, or employers) through collaboratively working with UX/UI, along with other more junior developers, to build a platform that meets the stakeholder's needs, aligns with marketing strategies, and scales with demand.
Qualifications
You must have the skills to take end-to-end ownership of a stakeholder's platform.
This includes:

• Architecting and designing new software systems and platforms
• Iteratively collaborating with UI/UX to create designs that put the stakeholder first and are feasible to build within an appropriate timeframe
• Easily able to take those designs and translate them into a working platform, so building the front-end, back-end, and databases
• Aiding in support issues that are specific to that platform. So triaging issues, prioritizing bugs relative to the priority of other work, and fixing them
• Querying and analyzing data to evaluate the success of the platform and then using that data as a feedback loop for successive iterations on the platform.
• While you will play a leading role on a particular platform, this is a highly collaborative position with plenty of pair programming and collaboration around system architecture and design so excellent communication skills are required.

Technical Requirements:

• 6+ years experience as a Software Engineer
• 4+ years experience with Full Stack development. We use React, Typescript, NestJS, and a NoSQL database.
• 4+ years experience with software architecture and design.
• 2+ years experience with serverless cloud infrastructure, like functions as a service and backend as a service. We use Firebase.
• 2+ years teaching and mentoring others

Why this job is challenging:

• You will have end-to-end ownership, including software architecture decisions and product feature decisions. This requires leadership skills and passion for our mission.
• You will be building in fast iterations that require quick decisions, lots of pivoting, and the ability to prioritize work as there's more work than can reasonably get done. This requires efficiency, being open to criticism and ideas, and taking decisive action.
• You will be scaling the platform faster than is reasonable. That means all problems scale in magnitude very fast. This requires level-headedness, enjoyment of challenges, and chasing learning.

Additional Information
Compensation: $130,000 - $190,000 salary + quarterly bonuses based on performance.
