Principal SoC Semiconductor Engineer
At the Nissan Advanced Technology Center-Silicon Valley (NATC-SV) in Santa Clara, CA, we are looking for experienced engineers and researchers to lead Nissan's development of fundamental technology. NATC-SV is looking for an experienced SoC Semiconductor Engineer to investigate the development of an internal system-on-a-chip (SoC) for the next generation software defined vehicle (SDV). This individual will lead a team of experienced engineers and researchers, as well as working with outside experts in the field, with the objective of developing a prototype system that can be demonstrated to run Nissan's latest autonomous vehicle software.
Job Responsibilities
  • Be the subject matter expert for system-on-chip (SoC) internal architectures for SDV hardware design for Autonomous Driving, SDV and Infotainment applications.
  • Be the reference for and develop internal competencies of SoC/FPGA/ASIC design and programming.
  • Be the reference for the SoC IP blocks and design tradeoffs: ARM, RISC-V, GPU, DSP, ISP, NPU, MMA, HW accelerators.
  • Be the reference for the development of Chiplets and the Interconnect Standards.
  • Work proactively with silicon vendor partners to drive needed solutions.
  • Be the reference for designing and implementing FPGAs for Machine Learning and other algorithms for ADAS/AV.
  • Be the interface within the organization between the E/E Architecture for Advanced Engineering and Research for the AD and SDV specifications.
  • Drive internal SoC roadmap definitions by regularly providing survey study of the relevant industry technologies and SoC solutions.

Basic Qualifications
  • Min 15 years of experience with min 8 years of experience in silicon SoC design for embedded electronics or mixed experience of design, architecture and TIER2 engineering and/or manager role
  • Experience in E/E architecture topologies, software architecture
  • Track record in FPGA/ASIC development
  • Experience with Silicon Design suite tools
  • Experience in defining vehicle E/E architecture specifications a plus
  • Familiar with industry standards for chip design methodologies and verification
  • Strong teamwork spirit; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently within a global team environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's (preferred) or Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering (EECS), Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree field
  • Experienced in industrial or automotive (preferred) market
  • Must have direct experience working on CPU and GPU architectures and power management
  • Experience in Linux/Unix/RTOS Operating Systems
  • Experience with 3rd party IPs and SoC integration
  • Experience with RISC-V and Chiplet technology is a plus
  • Solid understanding of embedded electronics design constraints at the component and system level

Salary Range:
$154,090.00 - $312,042.00
