The Position

The Principal Program Manager of Fire Life Systems (FLS) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all employees and assets within Genentech. Their responsibilities encompass a comprehensive range of responsibilities related to fire prevention, protection, and response.

The responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • The Principal Program Manager will drive the overall vision, strategy and execution for the FLS Group.

  • Manage budget and operational performance (QBRs, KPIs, SLAs) of the on-site FLS Service Provider, which operates, maintains and monitors the existing Fire Alarm System.

  • Conduct fire safety inspections with local AHJ to ensure that all fire safety codes and regulations are met.

  • Test fire systems for code compliance.

  • Manage the Fire Impairment Program.

  • Maintain a positive working relationship with the local fire municipality.

  • Investigate fire incidents to determine the causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable local, state and federal laws as well as Roche K Directive(s).

  • Collaborate with other departments as applicable to ensure the effectiveness of the program.

  • Analyze data to identify trends and develop strategies for preventing future incidents.

  • Prepare reports and presentations on the status of the program and on fire incidents.

  • Stay current on fire safety technology.

  • Develop and maintain fire alarm documentation, including drawings and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.

  • 20+ years field experience in conducting fire & life safety inspections of various occupancies under State and Local authority.

  • Field experience in fire suppression activity, use of fire equipment, and a familiarity with the policies, procedures and protocols of firefighting.

  • Training, licenses and certifications related to the control of fire or fire hazards.

  • Ability to utilize, understand and apply the California Fire Code, California Building Code, National Fire Protection Association Standards (NFPA), local codes and ordinances related to fire & life safety.

  • Ability to utilize and participate in the Incident Command System (ICS) and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC)

  • Membership in professional organizations such as the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), International Code Council (ICC) and California Fire Prevention Officers Association.

  • Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing and including the ability to effectively present proposed plans and results to management.

  • Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills.

  • Strong technical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Self-starter and ability to work with minimum or no supervision.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $140,500 - $260,900.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
