The Principal Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will be a credible medical/scientific field-based expert on disease areas and Cerevel molecules, within an assigned geography.  The Principal MSL serves as the primary communicator of scientific information to external thought leaders and clinicians, as well as a conduit of information back to in-house cross-functional stakeholders.  Depending on product life cycles, Principal MSLs may support clinical development, launch planning, and serve as subject matter experts on a variety of other cross-functional special projects such as sales training and on-boarding partner to new employees.  The Principal demonstrates mastery of the MSL function, operates independently and serves as an informal and formal mentor to peers.  In addition to field-based accountabilities, the Principal MSL is expected to lead complex cross-functional initiatives, elevating the MSL teams performance and demonstrates inter-departmental impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish thought partnership and peer-to-peer strategic and long-term relationships with medical experts in relevant disease areas in the fields of neurology and psychiatry (Parkinson's Disease, epilepsy, schizophrenia, Alzheimer's Disease and others)
• Support clinical development program, as a medical affairs subject matter/molecule expert, representing the sponsor, in partnership with CRO at the site and regional level
• Partner with Medical Leads and Scientific Communications to develop and ensure appropriate dissemination of clinical and scientific information regarding Cerevel compounds in a timely, ethical, and customer-focused manner
• Timely, accurately, and compliantly respond to unsolicited inquiries
• Attend medical congresses and stay up to date with latest literature/trends in therapies in relevant disease areas
• Lead/coordinate MSL activity at medical congresses, including pre-conference planning, coordinating MSL team staffing of medical booth and session coverage, and collating/editing of medical affairs session coverage
• Expert use of technology supporting virtual engagements (Teams, Zoom, etc.)
• Adherence to all OIG/FDA legal and corporate compliance guidelines
• Timely and accurate reporting of all HCP interactions and Insights into CRM
• Demonstrate strong strategic thinking and have an enterprise-wide mindset
• Model situational self-leadership and contribute to a high performing team
• Establish and model appropriate and compliant cross-functional in-field partnerships, including commercial teams, clinical research associates, managed care/value liaisons and account/reimbursement teams
• Demonstrated excellence in scientific communications, including periodic certification on key scientific content such as pivotal data sets or product labels or scientific educational programs
• Demonstrate individual leadership and mentoring of peers, in both formal and informal settings
• Lead complex, cross-functional projects and be accountable for key deliverables including launch preparations
• Assist with therapeutic training and on-boarding of new colleagues
• Support Medical Leads at advisory boards and other high-profile presentations with external stakeholders as needed

Required Qualifications

• Doctorate degree in a relevant scientific discipline (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP)
• Eight or more years of medical affairs experience
• Meet Health Care Industry Representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to enter facilities and organizations in assigned territory.  These may include, but are not limited to, background checks, drug screens, proof of immunization/vaccination for various diseases, training on facility policies and adherence to confidentiality and/or HIPPA agreements
• Experience engaging with Phase 2/3 clinical trials sites, in coordination with clinical operations colleagues
• Thought leader level expertise in neurology and/or psychopharmacology, including but not limited to peer-review publications, teaching and mentoring at the doctoral-level, and a demonstrated record of scientific leadership
• Established network and key relationships with thought leaders within assigned territory
• Expert knowledge of applicable pharmaceutical industry legal and regulatory guidelines
• Excellence in oral and written scientific and interpersonal communication
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and manage time efficiently
• Must be willing to travel at least 60% of the time
• Must have authorization and ability to drive a personal auto, rental, or company car
• Location: Remote, but must live in territory and near a major airport

Desired Qualifications

• Peri-launch experience such as field medical tactical communications planning, coordinating key customer engagements, safety reporting standards and coordination with internal stakeholders at the local level
• Two-three years post-doctoral training/fellowship in neurology or psychiatry
• Experience in complimentary areas such as medical imaging, biomarkers and diagnostics, biostatistics or health economics would be a plus

Education

• Doctoral-level degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) in the life sciences, with significant post-doctoral training in neurology and/or psychiatry
