Position Summary
Ensures delivery of company medical and pharmacy benefits to active and retired employees and their covered family members. Leads the benefits function in the strategic design, evaluation, implementation, and on-going management of medical, pharmacy and related specialty care programs and initiatives, and develops innovative programs targeted to achieve our benefit goals.
Essential Responsibilities

  • Program Management: Act as the primary liaison to medical and pharmacy vendors with regard to the design, development, implementation, operation and communication of the company's most critical and complex benefits programs for all employees and retirees, including the company medical, pharmacy and specialty care programs. Develop performance guarantees (PGs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), manage and ensure adherence to vendor contracts. Work closely with internal and external data analytics consultant(s) to review program metrics and ROI results, identify cost saving opportunities and to understand trends to predict future needs. Compliance: Ensure vendors are administering benefit plans in accordance with regulatory and legal compliance. Maintains knowledge of various state and federal laws that impact in-scope benefit programs. Ensure that vendor processes are compliant through both internal and external audits.
  • Health & Wellbeing Program/Partner Identification: Identify new benefits/programs that support the overall goals and objectives of the Health and Wellbeing function. Manage RFPs, RFIs, market checks and audits in collaboration with internal peers and external consulting partners.
  • General Employee Benefits Support: Act in a consulting-type relationship with internal/external partners to share knowledge, drive strategy decisions, and make recommendations. May collaborate with Communications to create and lead benefit education webinars. Actively participate in benefit-related organizations representing the company's interests. Act as a resource to team members for problem solving. Lead/ support other ad-hoc projects and perform other responsibilities as required.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Eight years of progressively responsible benefits management experience and two years of vendor management experience, including in-depth knowledge of medical and pharmacy benefits issues, trends and practices preferred.
  • Strong leadership, planning and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to make solid business judgments and provide guidance on priorities and technical implementation; and proven interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interface with individuals and groups at all levels of both internal and external organizations.
  • Must have experience related to medical plan management.
  • Pharmacy plan management experience is preferred.
  • Current benefits certification through a recognized professional or educational organization is preferred.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $92,300.00 to $130,566.66 per year
