YOU ARE A PART OF:

The engineering team consisting of other engineers with diverse backgrounds and expertise. The Engineering team works in close collaboration with Operations, R&D, and Purchasing. You will be involved in the design, development, documentation and validation of new customer products, and modification of existing products including defining requirements, timelines, and deliverables with a focus on prototypes, process development, design verification, clinical builds, training production, and preparation for process validation and manufacturing transfer of products.

JOB SUMMARY

The Principal Radio Frequency Engineer (RF) position is primarily responsible for the development of antenna and RF designs for the creation of medical device products.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs design and analysis to achieve product performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability requirements
  • Designs RF sub-systems for battery-powered Class III implantable medical devices
  • Trouble shoots designs and maintains engineering notebook
  • Works with interdisciplinary teams of mechanical and process engineers to integrate RF designs
  • Designs engineering development processes
  • Specifies and/or designs embedded software and firmware for test and verification purposes
  • Develops electronic and electromechanical system requirements (specifications) and development plans
  • Interfaces with and manages suppliers to fabricate prototype and final design components
  • Participates in architecture design, subsystem requirements partitioning, requirements management and configuration management during product development
  • Builds, tests, debugs, and maintains configuration of prototype assemblies
  • Develops and executes formal design verification tests
  • Develops documentation of specifications, designs, test plans and reports for inclusion in medical product Design History Files
  • Creates and releases medical device manufacturing process instructions, bills of material, lot history travelers, and related documentation
  • Participates in the development of quality inspection and manufacturing process instructions
  • Leads the meetings with the customer technical teams
  • Documents project the technical changes and follows them through to completion
  • Leads internal and external contractors to complete their assigned project tasks.
  • Assists the Project Manager with technical details as needed.
  • Complies with company, quality and safety standards, policies, and procedures
  • Reliable, consistent, and punctual attendance is an essential function of the job

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS(+15y) or MS/PHD(+10y) degree in Electrical Engineering with relevant experience
  • Profound knowledge of antenna design, high-frequency circuit design, RF principles, and electromagnetic theory
  • Expertise in using industry-standard RF simulation tools (e.g., ADS, Microwave Office, CST, HFSS) and familiarity with CAD software for PCB layout design
  • Hands-on understanding of RF active and passive circuits and components (LNAs, Filters, Mixers, Cables, Dielectrics, etc.)
  • Experience with implanted radios
  • Great EE fundamentals knowledge (EMI, noise, linearity, ..).
  • Strong analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Proven track record in two or more of the following sub-areas:
    • RADAR, Software Defined Radio, Satellite Radio, RF Packaging, High Speed Digital System, Discrete RF Circuit Design, PCB Design and Test, Communication Theory, 2D/3D EM Modeling and Prototyping, Antenna Design
  • Hands-on experience with RF test design, RF measurement equipment (e.g., network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators) and proficiency in data analysis
  • Hands-on experience in prototype bring-up and debugging
  • Ability to lead projects and mentor junior engineers
