This Principal Electrical Engineer will be a member of the Avionics Airborne Information Solutions Data Link Products team. The airborne communications management system provides a mobile data link service through various subnetworks between the aircraft and the airline ground facilities and/or air traffic controllers. The Data Link Hardware team is responsible for the development and sustainment of state-of-the-art high-performance and high-assurance processing platforms for Data Link processing modules used in Air Transport aircraft, and Regional and Business platforms. 

Our products employ technologies including FPGA and ASIC digital logic, Intel, embedded processing resources; avionics IO including ARINC 429, Ethernet, SRIO, PCIe, SGMII, SDHC, DDR4, and many others.  

Typical position responsibilities:

  • Circuit card design and integration testing, DO-160C-G qualification testing, support of manufacturing build and test, production support, and support for customer return goods (CRG).

  • New circuit card design and integration efforts include capturing requirements, implementing hardware design solutions using schematic entry tools, working with printed circuit card designers to develop printed wiring board layout, working with technicians to debug and test hardware, and integrating hardware with other system elements, and documentation of performance for requirements verification purposes. 

  • Top-level product development, circuit card and sub-level module development, product qualification, product transition, and product sustainment over the life cycle of the design.

  • Maintaining certification documentation, producing certification documentation such as PHAC and HAS, and interfacing with cert authorities and customers such as Boeing and Airbus.  

  • The Pr. Electrical Engineer role also has opportunities for project engineering and has high expectations for leadership within the team, and communication with our internal and external customers.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and independently on assigned tasks is a must. 

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience oran Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Experience with Intel processer architecture.  

  • Experience with DO-254 certification.

  • Experience working with standard lab equipment for integration testing of hardware designs. 

  • Experience working with complex embedded devices (microprocessors, 2D/3D graphics processors, ASICs, FPGAs) as a part of overall hardware design.                  

  • Experience completing printed circuit board (PCB) layout.  

  • DO-160 or MIL-STD-810/MIL-STD-461 qualification.
