As thePrincipal Data Science Manager on the IDEASCompete Data Science team, you will focus on measuring and analyzing Microsoft market share vs. key competitors across the numerous Experience + Devices and Security businesses. You will manage a team of data scientists who provide important competitive data and analysis that is utilized broadly by the most leaders to drive strategy and product decisions. Our insights offer critical support and drive meaningful impact across two of the most important product divisions at Microsoft.

Required Qualifications:
o OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years data-science experience [e.g. managing structured and unstructured data, modeling/analyzing for insights and reporting results]
o OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data-science experience [e.g. managing structured and unstructured data, modeling/analyzing for insights and reporting results]
o OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qaulifications:
Data Science M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.

Responsibilities
- Manage and develop the Compete Data Science team in a highly inclusive and supportive environment.
- Define, instrument and monitor key compete performance metrics and analytic data for Microsoft 365, Security and New/Emerging products/services, along with the key corresponding competitor products.
- Deliver deep competitive business analyses to drive insights and learnings on Microsoft products success in market against key competitors.
- Perform market research and data exploration to determine the best 1st and 3rd party data solutions for measuring/analyzing both overall market share as well as specific feature areas and scenarios.
- Partner deeply with Product, Marketing, Biz Planning & Finance stakeholders to build actionable plans, data, & analysis to help address key compete business questions/scenarios and inform business strategy.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ year(s) data-science experience [e.g. managing structured and unstructured data, modeling/analyzing for insights and reporting results]
o OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years data-science experience [e.g. managing structured and unstructured data, modeling/analyzing for insights and reporting results]
o OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data-science experience [e.g. managing structured and unstructured data, modeling/analyzing for insights and reporting results]
o OR equivalent experience.
- 3+ years People-management experience.
Preferred Qaulifications:
- 5+ years of experience developing and delivering metrics and reporting in large-scale data platform, engineering, and business program/process management environments.
- 3+ years of experience working in Data Science and programming experience with languages like Python/R/Scope/C# or experience with SQL and large data platforms.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas, analysis, and concepts to executives and other levels of leadership. Demonstrated storytelling and presentation capabilities are critical.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of statistics and machine learning.
- Demonstrated leadership experience and business partnering skills to utilize across diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated expereince with data/business
