About The Role
The Principal Accountant acts as a Business Partner to Neuromodulation Management and Divisional Finance teams. This role will lead and support the month-end close process and perform a variety of complex duties in general accounting as well as reporting and analysis of financial results with insights and recommendations to improve financial and operating performance. As a Principal Financial Accountant, you will spend time advising on technical accounting and share in the rewarding impact of seeing its business application. You will be a trusted finance leader helping to drive business decisions and strategic planning.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Providing technical accounting expertise on topics such as revenue recognition and reserves; participating in research, implementation, and monitoring activities
- Establishing and communicating accounting policies by maintaining a thorough understanding of GAAP and new accounting guidance
- Driving critical accounting processes across divisional franchises groups with a focus on revenue and finished goods inventory
- Compiling and analyzing financial information through preparation of reports, general ledger entries, and account recs
- Maintaining internal control environment and assisting with regular SOX documentation and testing requirements
- Performing month/quarter-end close processes
- Working closely with Corporate, GBS, and other functions of the business to ensure key Balance Sheet controls compliance
- Manage internal and or external audits (SOX, GIA, EY, Property Tax, etc.)
- Plans and organizes, with minimal guidance to meet, key deadlines, project assignments, and key objectives.
- Leads process improvement recommendations with clear and achievable milestones
- Works independently without appreciable direction on highly specialized projects
- Support ad-hoc decision-making to enable profitable growth
- Support regular and ad-hoc reporting and presentations to senior management.
- Identify and drive cost saving opportunities across the operating functions.
- Quickly respond to numerous ad-hoc queries from internal customers (including Senior Management and Corporate leaders).
- Provide mentorship to Senior Accountant
Required Qualifications
- Career-oriented financial professional with demonstrated career progression in a large, complex multi-national business
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 7+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Active Certified Public Accountant
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills required; (Hyperion/Oracle, SAP skills preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong financial analysis, communication, organizational and prioritization skills
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to multi-task and set priorities/execute in a high-paced organization
- Able to assertively engage with internal and external customers
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment, adhere to tight deadlines
- Team orientated with career orientation and clear potential to progress to Management responsibilities
- This position is a hybrid role requiring in-office attendance in the Valencia, CA site Tuesday - Thursday during normal business hours. Mondays and Fridays are authorized remote work days.
