Position Summary:
The Access Architect is responsible for overall product roadmap and technology strategy for Vecima broadband access solutions within the Office of the CTO with specific focus on PON and other optical access technologies. A successful candidate should be customer-focused and collaborative in the role of translating customer needs and technology trends into market-leading solutions while working closely with executive staff and multiple teams within Vecima. A software-centric perspective is important to match the evolution of the broadband access market.
Duties & Responsibilities to include (but not limited to)

  • Help shape, articulate, and implement the company's technology vision and future
  • Act as a technical leader during new product conception working closely with Sales, Marketing, Product Management and Business Development groups. This includes detailed product requirement definitions and high-level system design, and business case development and evaluation
  • Work in close consultation with Research and Development to ensure that new projects are properly initiated with clearly defined product requirements and high-level design
  • Interface with technical experts at customers and within industry standard organizations to identify new opportunities based on both evolution of existing products or entirely new products
  • Assist cross-department teams with software development for prototype concepts to further Business Development and Marketing initiatives
  • Direct and participate in industry interoperability events
  • Travel for key customer technical discussions, standards group participation, customer integration and demonstration, or new technology training

Education & Experience Requirements
  • Detailed understanding of access network (L1-L3) protocols including PON, DOCSIS, Wi-Fi, 4G/5G, and Metro Ethernet as used in service provider networks to influence Vecima product and customer implementation decisions
  • Product development and/or deployment experience with DOCSIS Provisioning of EPON (DPoE) and/or XGS-PON
  • Familiarity with Open Network (SDN, NFV) concepts, goals and evolutionary track with initiatives such as CloudCO, OpenBNG, OpenRAN, DOR
  • Product development and/or deployment experience with container-based deployments (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative and innovative environment
  • Constantly learning new technology and techniques to improve products and internal software development practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Deep technical interaction with customer technical experts
  • Ability to lead and direct industry standards efforts to support Vecima product strategy and technology
  • Must have experience in defining system software architecture on medium to larger sized projects
  • Must have experience in working directly with customers to influence and evangelize product decisions
