ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Located in Traverse City, Michigan, Traverse Bay Children's Advocacy Center (TBCAC) is the regional response center for the protection and well-being of children. It's mission is to provide a coordinated, multidisciplinary response to allegations of child abuse in a child-sensitive, trauma-informed environment; to offer therapeutic treatment for those who have been harmed; and to champion a world without abuse through awareness, prevention, education and outreach.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Type: Full-Time Exempt Employee Status
Salary: $40,000 - $57,200/year depending on experience

Working Hours: Full-time, 40-hours per week, flexible schedule; some evenings/weekend hour
Supervisee: Facilitators; Prevention Council
The Prevention Coordinator position is responsible for developing, organizing, and conducting child abuse prevention programs throughout the six-county service area of TBCAC.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prevention Programs: Coordinate, promote, schedule and conduct online and in-person education and prevention training for adults and youth. Duties include maintaining a database of contacts and program attendants; developing, administering and maintaining program content and training materials
- Develop and administer primary child abuse prevention programs in alignment with TBCAC initiatives to end child sexual abuse
- Coordinate and promote prevention outreach through active participation in community events including festivals, fairs, community meetings, presentations, media opportunities and school-related activities
- Support fund development and community engagement initiatives
- Help coordinate events and activities for Child Abuse Prevention Month in TBCAC’s six-county region
- Review and update prevention-related grant applications, activities, objectives, and reporting
- Complete ongoing training as required by the National Children’s Alliance
- Attend staff meetings and participate in staff functions
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience with program/training content development or teaching experience.
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Strong writing, speaking/presentation and project management skills
- Public speaking, presentation and workshop facilitation experience both in-person and via digital platforms
- Excellence in building and maintaining positive relationships with community partners, volunteers and team members
- Experience working with volunteers, events and media
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Must complete a criminal and CPS background check and sign a confidentiality agreement prior to starting work
- Proficient computer skills, including Google Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Macs
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to relate to children and adults of all ages, races, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds as well as professionals across multiple disciplines
- Comfortable with technology, including computers for data entry, and online engagement platforms (i.e., social media, webinars, etc.)
- Ability to function effectively on a team
- Good listening skills and strong personal boundaries
- Capacity for empathy and self-reflection
- Flexible and open to feedback
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in a professional office environment with moderate noise and occasional unscheduled interruptions. Sitting for periods of time is typical, but brief periods of walking or standing may occur.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires speaking and hearing. Frequent typing and writing are customary. Bending and twisting could occur regularly. The employee must be able to lift up to 5 pounds at certain times.
