The Times Union is seeking an experienced offset journeyman pressman to join its Albany, NY, production operation as a Substitute. If hired, you will work with a close-knit team responsible for maintaining and operating a state-of-the-art KBA Commander CL press that produces Times Union and numerous commercial print publications in a high-quality and cost-effective manner, seven days a week.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of web offset newspaper or commercial printing experience.
- Able to produce high-quality print results on a consistent basis.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on meeting deadlines and customer expectations.
- Well-developed verbal communication skills.
- Fluency with computerized press controls and operator interfaces.
- Technical knowledge and mechanical aptitude for newspaper printing operations, including equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Hours: Primarily evenings and weekend evenings, but hours can vary based on training and production needs.
Pay: This is a union position with an hourly rate of $27.11 per hour (equals 80% of a Fulltime Journeyman's pay rate). $500 sign-on bonus after 90 days, and another $500 after six months of satisfactory performance.
