Sets up all automatic fin presses and die castings. Also required to operate presses. This is a 2nd shift position. Second shift offers a $2.50 shift differential. Second shift runs from 4:30pm to 3:00am, depending on production.
- Set up all fin presses including five (5) thirty-five (35) inch wide and six (6) seventeen (17) inch wide.
- Changes cams as required.
- Pulls proper die and holders from storage and installs in fin press.
- Adjusts dies as required to get proper dimension, shimming if necessary.
- Checks fin pressure drop as required by orders per M.O.P.
- Determines dimensional and quality acceptability of fins.
- Records die changes and quantity of fins made in the die book.
- Turns fin die blades in holder and makes necessary adjustments.
- When required, performs functions of fin press operator.
- Assists in training of fin press and set up operators.
- Works with a variety of fin die types; straight, perforated, serrated, and herringbone – fin heights and die widths.
- Performs preventative maintenance on fin presses per M.O.P.
- Advises when fin press is not operating properly and requires maintenance.
- Notifies when fin dies require maintenance.
- Maintains necessary supplies for fin presses – oil, shims and other shop supplies
High School Diploma or GED
Works indoors in well-lighted factor atmosphere. Constant exposure to oil. Some exposure to aluminum chips. Continuous exposure to up and down pounding of machine operation.
