Job Description
SUMMARY: The PRESS OPERATOR is responsible for assisting in the set-up and operation of printing equipment to meet quality and productivity requirements per customer specification.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.
- Assists in the setup and operation of flexographic printing press to meet quality and productivity requirements per customer specification and as designated by PRESS OPERATOR, supervisor, or manager
- Assists in assuring all product quality, safety, and production standards are met
- Completes documentation in accurate manner
- Assists in the change and install print cylinders and anilox rolls
- Change deck parts and ink pumps
- Set print cylinders into register
- Check proper tension settings, verify repeat lengths are correct, curl is minimized, adhesive weights are correct, and roll appearance and colors are correct
- Ensure quality and safe operation of equipment and notifies operator when aware of issues
- Must be able to maintain proper ink and/or adhesive levels and notify lead operator and ink department personnel when level is low and needs additional materials
- Complete processes within allotted set up time
- Monitors viscosity control
- Color match each color to customer specification
- Performs miscellaneous duties as required by operator, supervisor, or manager
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety instructions
- Participate in ongoing CI and Focus improvement processes
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to read standard and metric measuring tape
SPECIFIC SKILLS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, and bend
- Must be able to use measuring tape
- Must be able to understand and carry out detailed written and verbal instructions
- Must be able to clearly communicate using production reports and other documents to transfer what transpired during a shift such as material usage, time management, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Must be able to accurately identify color defects or shadings in print quality
- Must be able to work overtime
