Duties and Responsibilities
- Plans learning opportunities which are appropriate to the developmental levels of children, and which meets individual needs
- Provides a coordinated child development program for children integrating all required components including basic care: education, social services, nutrition, parent involvement and education
- Plans, organizes, participates, and assumes responsibility for implementing the daily program
- Maintains proper control and a suitable learning environment indoors and outdoors
- Coordinates and assists in planning and evaluating activities of the instructional team
- Keep appropriate records for all children assigned to the team
- Confers with health and social services personnel, as appropriate
- Participates in parent education and parent involvement activities
- Ongoing Professional Development/CA Early Care & Education Workforce, and more…
- Completes 21 Hours of Training
- Participates in staff development activities for the personnel of the center
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Track children’s progress and report to parents on DRDP, Parent Conferences, Brightwheel
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom
- Help children reach developmental milestones
- Collaborate with others to implement lesson plans
- Encourage children to interact with each other to develop social skills
- Always provide appropriate supervision for children
- Maintain inventory system for classroom materials and supplies
- Facilitate various activities for children including songs, games, and storytelling
- Adhere to health/safety and sanitation procedures
Qualifications
- Completion of a minimum of 12 units in Child Development from an accredited college or university for position as a teacher of 24 units as a teacher with at least one course in each of the following areas:
- Child/human growth and development
- Child, family, and community or child and family relations, and programs/curriculum
- A valid California Teaching Credential or permit
- A valid, current certificate or card verifying completion of 16 hours of training in preventive health practices, including pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and pediatric first aid
