SALARY: Per established Paraprofessional Salary Schedule. This is a part time nine month position.

Job Description:
Program Description: The Athens-Meigs ESC’s mission is to work in partnership with the community to improve student achievement, build educator capacity, and raise expectations for all individuals within our service area. The Early Childhood program facilitates preschool programs in Athens, Meigs and Perry County. Our program adheres to a curriculum which aligns to Ohio’s Early Learning Content Standards and is based on research and child development.
Purpose Statement/Position Description:
The position of the Preschool Paraprofessional was established for the purpose of:
Assisting teachers with classroom duties and daily classroom maintenance
Participating in relevant program licensing and compliance policies
Managing the classroom and individual student behavior effectively to maintain a good learning environment
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED, or Associate’s Degree - the degree must be in an education-related field, evidence of the degree from an accredited institution must be provided, and it must be approved by the Superintendent for the Associate's Degree salary schedule
Passing score on State Parapro Assessment
Must pass BCI and FBI background checks
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work effectively with others
Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively
Effective and active listening skills
Organizational and problem-solving skills
Basic computer skills
Essential Functions:
Ensure safety of students
Provide assistance to classroom teacher
Work with students both individually and in small groups
Assist with gross motor time, restroom breaks, bussing, etc.
Promote good social relationships between children
Assist students with toiletry needs and diapering as needed
Duplicate or prepare materials for class projects
Maintain respect at all times for confidential records and student information
Interact in a positive and professional manner with students, staff, and parents
Attend meetings and in-services as required
Secure the training and Ohio Approved hours needed for SUTQ and licensing compliance
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Play learning games
Assist teacher in maintaining student files
Prepare supply, material, and equipment requisitions as directed by immediate supervisor
Respond to routine questions and requests in a timely manner
Perform other duties as assigned

Smartboard or other presentation devices
Laminating Machine
Google and Microsoft Office Suites
Additional Working Conditions
Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions (i.e., being prepared to come to work on all scheduled workdays, except calamity days)
Frequent and regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, climb, kneel, and stoop
Occasional requirement to carry, lift, push, and pull items up to a maximum of 50 pounds
