Pacific Preschool & Kindergarten is a year-round, high-quality Early Childhood Education Program, preparing young children for Kindergarten and beyond! We offer programs for children 18-months through Kindergarten. Focusing on the whole child, our program promotes Kindergarten Readiness by providing experiences and curriculum that is meaningful, engaging, and developmentally appropriate for each individual student. We offer a very desirable Teacher/Child Ratio, high Health & Safety Standards, and a Positive Working Environment! We meet and maintain the quality standards of the NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) and have been accredited by the NAEYC for over 25 years. We are currently looking for a new Program Director who is a natural fit for the philosophy and culture of our school.
The Program Director is responsible for the overall operation of the program. This includes the planning, organizing, coordinating, implementing, managing, monitoring, and evaluating of the programs, services, operations, activities, staff, and facilities of the school. The Program Director reports to the Executive Director / Owner of Pacific Preschool & Kindergarten.
Duties / Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Exercises supervision of all Program Staff: Teachers, Assisting Teachers, Office Manager, Nutrition/Facility Supervisor, and Assistant Director.
· Ensures the program and staff are in compliance with policies / procedures and applicable State and Federal regulations of child development centers.
· Assists in administering and adhering to annual program budgets.
· Partners with and assists families in identifying special needs and intervention and makes referrals to specialized resources following Pacific Preschool & Kindergarten protocol.
· Excels in leadership and management skills supporting our program and staff.
· Ability to delegate responsibilities and oversee the execution of those tasks.
· Has excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to express their thoughts, opinions, and ideas clearly, respectfully, and articulately.
· Creates and maintains a positive, supportive, and professional work environment following the principles of the NAEYC Code of Ethics.
· Overseeing the program during its operating hours of 8:30am – 5:00pm.
Education - Must have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major coursework or emphasis in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or related field, including three (3) units in Administration / Staff Relations, two (2) units of Adult Supervision, and three (3) units of Infant and Toddler specific coursework.
Must keep pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification current.
Must have at least four (4) hours training on preventative health practices: recognition, management, and prevention of infectious diseases, including immunizations and prevention of childhood injuries.
Experience - At least five (5) years of teaching experience in a licensed early childhood education program, including one (1) year working with children ages 0-3 years, or any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities. A minimum of 2 years of experience in Program Administration as a Director or Assistant Director.
Other Requirements - Must have the necessary leadership and management qualities, knowledge, and aptitudes to successfully conduct all aspects of a high-quality early childhood education program. Must be willing to stay current on all topics relevant to the early care and education of children and provide for any deficit in management skills or leadership through on-going professional development.
Must have, or be willing to obtain, a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or a Child Development Program Director Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, if requested.
Must possess good physical and mental health. Prior to beginning work, a complete physical examination, including tuberculosis (TB) test is required.
Live Scan Fingerprints Clearance must on file at the California Department of Social Services.
Salary and Benefits - Annual Salary ranges between $70,000 - $80,000 and is based on years of relevant experience and education. Pacific Preschool & Kindergarten offers a benefits package which includes:
