Form of workUnder the leadership of the Youth and Family Program Director, the Preschool Activities Teacher plays a pivotal role in supporting the developmental milestones of children aged 3 to 5 years within a group setting. The primary responsibilities include providing a safe and nurturing environment, fostering positive relationships with families and staff, and contributing to the holistic development of the children under your care. Recognizing the unique demands of childcare, the Preschool Activities Teacher must possess the mental and physical capability to fulfill the responsibilities detailed in this job description.
Principal Activities and Essential Functions:
Cultivate and maintain open and positive relationships with all families, ensuring a collaborative approach to the development and well-being of their children.
Promptly communicate any concerns to the Director, providing written documentation as necessary to maintain transparency and accountability.
Actively facilitate and participate in all classroom activities, serving as a model for children and observing their engagement and learning.
Complete and manage documentation for any accidents or incidents involving children, ensuring that parents sign the relevant forms at pick-up time.
Organize learning spaces to accommodate a variety of activities tailored for individual and small group engagement, including block building, dramatic play, art, music, science, math, manipulative play, and quiet book reading.
Provide physical assistance to children as needed, including lifting, and carrying.
Attend all mandatory staff meetings and training sessions to ensure ongoing professional development and compliance with program standards.
Fulfill other duties as assigned to meet the needs and objectives of the program.
Requirements
Required:
High school diploma or GED.
Must be at least 18 years of age with experience working with children aged 3-5 years.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Fluent in spoken and written English, capable of serving as a positive linguistic role model for children.
Salary Description
$12.00 hourly
