Job Title: Prepress Manager

Job Summary:
The Prepress Manager is a critical role that oversees the prepress department, ensuring not only the fulfillment of customer communication needs but also surpassing their expectations through superior quality and precision. This position demands adherence to technical production standards and specifications, with a significant emphasis on color management to maintain consistency and accuracy across all print jobs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the preparation, review, and adjustment of client-supplied artwork files, ensuring they meet or exceed print production standards.
• Manage the use of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) among the team to edit graphics, adjust layouts, and guarantee that files are optimized for printing.
• Spearhead color correction initiatives, manage color profiles, and ensure color consistency and accuracy across all projects, implementing advanced color management techniques.
• Supervise the submission of files for digital proofs, coordinate client feedback, and make necessary adjustments to meet client satisfaction.
• Lead the prepress team in collaborating with the production department to troubleshoot and resolve any prepress-related challenges efficiently.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest trends and technologies in the printing industry to drive continuous improvement in prepress processes.
• Ensure all projects comply with company standards and client specifications, with a focus on excellence in color management.
• Develop and implement training programs for the prepress team on color management and other essential prepress skills.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in graphic design and layout software applications on both Mac and PC platforms, with a strong emphasis on color management.
• A thorough understanding of digital file formats (PDF, TIFF, EPS) and an advanced skill set in color correction and profile management.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and a commitment to continuous learning and adaptation to new graphics software and color management techniques.
• A comprehensive understanding of the offset printing process and a broad knowledge of prepress, press, and post-press processes.
• Proven track record in leading a team to prepare and optimize digital files for high-quality print production.
• Expertise in industry-standard practices with a history of delivering top-tier prepress work, specifically in color management.
• Knowledge of printing-specific software, including raster image processing (RIP), digital asset management (DAM), variable data printing (VDP), imposition, barcode creation, PDF editing, and font management.
• 5 to 7 years of proven experience in a managerial role within a commercial printing or graphic design environment, with a significant focus on color management.
• Familiarity with Heidelberg Prinect Workflows or HP Production Pro is advantageous.
