The Precision Instrumentation & Product Engineering Directorate is hiring students for 2024 Summer Internship positions.  The Microsystems & Advanced Materials Division has opportunities in a number of technology areas including: Microprocess Engineering, Device Physics & Engineering, Materials Science & Chemistry, and Microsystems Integration. Students selected will be expected to work on a full-time basis during normal business hours, collaborate with senior technical staff members, and communicate effectively both orally and in written memos or presentations. The technical responsibilities will vary depending on the project assignments, which are tailored to the student’s skills and the Draper supervisor’s needs at the time the offer is made.  Examples of technology areas in the division include optical, nano-, biological, and electronic materials development; and device design, prototyping and  testing. Specific tasks may include monitoring prototyping fabrication work flows, experimental data collection and analysis, coordination of and participation in advanced microfabrication techniques, and the documentation of prototyping procedures and experimental outcomes and analysis. The student will be expected to contribute to a team and will gain a broad working knowledge of the modeling, design, testing, and fabrication processes for materials engineering. Individual must be well organized, responsible and dependable. Enrollment in a four-year physical science or engineering degree program required. Qualified candidates will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. An exposure to Statistics is preferred.

 

Relocation assistance is not available for internship positions.
