We are seeking a strong clinical RN to join our staff in the capacity of a PRE-OP PACU REGISTERED NURSE.

We are interested in candidates that exhibit previous experience in ortho, but we will consider other specialties as well.

We are particularly interested in the experienced:

  • IV Team
  • ER
  • ICU
  • Cath Lab
  • IR
  • Endoscopy specialty RNs

This role is dual in nature, with the specialist managing both pre-op and post-op care with a brief description of each responsibility below:

Pre-op Responsibilities:

  • Manage procedures and treatments for pre-operative performances
  • Ensure patients and families are comfortable with upcoming surgical procedures
  • Maintain and restock equipment and supplies utilized for operations
  • Manage and maintain nursing care and operating room pre-procedure
  • Implement surgical orders by appropriate members of the surgical team
  • Ensure paperwork such as consent and insurance forms are all properly documented

Post-Op Responsibilities:

  • Upon a patient’s arrival in the PACU, the nurse is informed of the patient's post-surgery condition and any complications that may have arisen.
  • Responsible for assessing the patient: checking vital signs, pain, the site of incision, temperature, and respiration.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of pain medication and be able to use his/her own judgment of a patient’s pain.
  • include changing dressings, turning a patient, breathing exercises, and pain management
  • Conduct appropriate assessment and follow-up calls to minimize post-surgery complications

Required Skills

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current Georgia Nursing License
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Pre-Op/PACU
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
  • Understand the principles of the aseptic technique and their implementation
  • Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics
  • Knowledge base to recognize, evaluate, solve problems, and correct errors
  • Ability to quickly adapt to the changing condition of the patient when needed
  • Excellent teaching skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate strong professional and ethical behavior
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians, and fellow employees. (TEAMWORK)
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Demonstrate accountability, creativity, and innovation, and be receptive to change
  • Possess basic knowledge of Performance Improvement ideology

Required Experience
  • Experienced Needed for Ortho Surgery
  • Previous experience working in an ambulatory surgical setting is preferred.
