Purpose and Essential Duties
The Pre-Commissioning Technician II is responsible for supporting the pre-commissioning department and more senior technicians in the startup and repair of systems while also working more independently. The tasks and duties are exposing the individual to basic system concepts, troubleshooting methodologies, and continue building higher level technician skills such as creative thinking and time management.
Specific responsibilities include:
Startup

  • The individual is responsible for starting up less complex equipment; assisting higher level technicians with complex equipment and systems, gathering product info (Model #'s, Serial #'s, belt type, filter sizes etc.).

Diagnose and Repair
  • The individual will assist more senior technicians troubleshooting problems and repairing them.

Support for Operations
  • The individual will assist with system flushing, TAB, setting PRV's, maintaining belts, greasing bearings and motors before turnover.

Review of Submittal Documents
  • The individual will verify that equipment on job and submittal match voltage/amps/HP/etc.

Mentoring of Other Employees
  • The individual is not expected to provide direct mentoring to other employees, either within, or outside of the department

After Hours Work
  • The individual will be required to work overtime on occasion.

This position is Full-Time, Non-Exempt, and reports to the Director of Commissioning.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience.
  • EPA 608 Certification.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • NFPA 70 Certification.
  • Complete 20 hours of continued education annually.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and develop the following skills through mentorship, continuing education and hands-on activity:
  • Copper Tube Brazing.
  • Time Management.
  • Troubleshooting System Knowledge.
  • Hydronic Systems.
  • VRF Systems.
  • Chiller Operation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

Travel Requirements
  • 15-20% of time will be spent traveling to job sites away from home city, company will provide hotel & per diem.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements
  • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and/or poles.
  • Climbing stairs.
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often kneeling, standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Operating machinery and/or power tools.
  • Operating motor vehicles.
  • Low indoor temperature.
  • High indoor temperature.
  • Outdoor elements such as precipitation, heat, cold, and/or wind.
  • Noisy environment.
  • Medium work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds.
