Position Details
The PRAx K-12 Education Associate will support planning and implementation of field trips at the Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts (PRAx). They will be instrumental in developing curriculum, supporting volunteers, facilitating educational activities, and measuring program success for the opening season K-12 field trips and education events.
- Design, with support from PRAx professional faculty, a developmentally appropriate lesson plan and program outline for K-12 field trips.
- Support PRAx professional faculty in developing and implementing a marketing plan to connect classrooms, youth organizations, and other K-12-serving groups to the gallery tours.
- Facilitate K-12 school, homeschool, and other group field trips.
- Encourage arts education of children by offering age-appropriate activities
- Involve and train volunteers in gallery interpretation and the facilitation of K-12 gallery field trips.
- Create metrics and collect data for determining gallery field trip program success.
- Other duties may include greeting guests, staffing the gallery, visiting k-12 school sites, and supporting performing arts events.
- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
- High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
- Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
- International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

- Will be subject to a Criminal History Check
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office and Google Suites
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
- Spanish Proficiency
- Previous experience with K-12 instruction and/or curricula development
- Previous experience engaging K-12 audiences in a structured education or youth program
- Approximately 8-12 hours per week, depending on program needs, closer to 8 hours per week on average in the Winter Term, closer to 12 hours per week on average in the Spring Term.
- The work schedule has room for flexibility, but, depending on the event calendar and school field trips, occasional morning shifts (8-noon) and some weekends will be required.
