Job description

Job Summary

The Quality Inspector will Inspect finished products for conformance to specifications using fixed or preset measuring instruments. The Inspector will check for irregularities and ensure that final products conform with established tolerance levels for quality and performance. The Quality Inspector will document all instances of non-conformance and rejected products in production reports. They will prepare required inspection certifications.

Essential Job Functions

  • Inspect in process and finished product as required by established procedures.
  • Accurately document the results of inspection and testing results.
  • Maintain records of measuring devices to ensure compliance to standards of QAP, AS9100 and ISO9001.
  • Record and indicate instruments are in tolerance and gauges are sent to approved labs.
  • Maintain all controlled document files of the inspections and testing results.
  • Evaluate problems and make recommendations for possible corrective actions.
  • Monitor critical equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation.
  • Document, develop and maintain calibration system, procedures and records.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings.
  • Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize work.
  • Communicate with shop floor to discuss quality issues

 Skills & Abilities

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 management systems.
  • Working knowledge of measurement instruments.
  • AS9102 FAI inspection preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow verbal and written communications.
  • Familiar with GAGE Trak/ Ape software or similar software.

 Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required throughout the workday to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle objects; reach with hands and arms; stoop; talk or hear. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and may also include color vision; depth perception; and the ability to see print in various sizes and formats.
