Power, Utilities & Renewables Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Solution Lead

Work You'll Do

As a Manager, you will lead and deliver small engagements, or components of large, complex engagements for Power, Utilities & Renewables clients and provide overall leadership for GIS systems implementation and integration projects. Using a combination of direct management and hands-on delivery, you will craft solutions for clients, guide and oversee the quality of your team's deliverables and recommendations, and manage day-to-day stakeholder relationships. Successful candidates will accomplish these objectives by:

  • Managing all deliverables including architectural specifications, project scope, use case development, requirements gathering, risk assessment, design specification, test plans, and test cases.
  • Understanding business strategies and client requirements to develop and implement solutions aligned with client's goals and objectives 
  • Leading functional and technical workshops with clients, based on the client needs
  • Leading data modeling activities, including data mapping, creating data matrices and migration specifications
  • Collaborating with clients to gain buy in for the overall solution architecture to meet enterprise architecture standards
  • Partnering with clients as a trusted advisor by bringing domain expertise to execute on a variety of projects and providing advice and making decisions regarding suitable technologies 

Managers will contribute to Deloitte's thought leadership, play a significant role in business development activities, and own responsibility for the development of junior staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree 
  • 6+ years' experience working with Utilities clients or experience working within the Utilities sector
  • 4+ years' experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) projects 
  • Experience implementing Esri's Utility Network data model
  • Knowledge of Esri's Enterprise Portal and services based on architecture and experience creating, editing and publishing services
  • Experience using ArcMap, ArcFM or ArcGIS Pro tools and applications
  • Experience configuring stored displays, creating symbology and creating data sets
  • Experience working with geospatial data including strong understanding of vector and point data types
  • Understanding of network connectivity for electric, gas and water GIS
  • Experience using geoprocessing tools and performing GIS data analysis
  • Understanding of ArcGIS Enterprise architectures and applications such as ArcGIS Online and Portal
  • Understanding of technical documentation and ability to develop testing strategies to effectively validate solutions
  • Knowledge of GIS mobile (field) applications and devices
  • Knowledge of database model and service-oriented architecture concepts
  • Knowledge of GIS data migration or conversion principles or techniques
  • Knowledge of GIS software programming languages such as Python, Model Builder, FME Workbench, JavaScript or C++
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft OneNote, Microsoft OneDrive and Microsoft Teams
  • Proficiency using SQL Query Analyzer
  • Experience leading large teams of 10 or more
  • Ability to travel 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

  • Demonstrated experience in delivery excellence, with the ability to plan and execute projects to deliver a superior client experience
  • Understanding of Utility business/industry, evidenced through the ability to comprehend how client's business and regulator operates, and up-to-date knowledge on industry/sector trends 
  • Analytical thinking & problem-solving skills, with an ability to identify and solve problems objectively using analysis, experience and judgment
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking and trouble shooting skills, with the ability to exercise mature judgement
  • Ability to develop and foster relationships, establish credibility with and instill confidence in clients
  • Ability to leverage cross-geography insights and delivery professionals to enhance client service delivery
  • Business-Technology acumen, exhibited through ability to articulate how technology enables and differentiates the business and communicate this effectively to clients

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $144,600 to $241,000.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
